Heath Hearn was born in Chesterfield, near Sheffield in 1966, a former mining community nestled in the Yorkshire countryside. In 1986, after spending two years at the Perth College of Art and Design, Australia, he made the decision to follow an independent path and developed a distinctly personal style away from the scrutiny of critics and dealers. Heath has since has a string of successful solo shows, exhibiting in both the UK and USA.
Heath's work is mainly abstract and is inspired by the relationship and contrast between man-made structures and natural landscapes. The environments in which the artist has lived have had a profound effect on his work; from the red bricks and rolling hills of his childhood to the varied views from his current studio. His studio is in the Rame Peninsula in Cornwall, where he can take in desolate moorland, changing seas and the industrial landscape of Devonport Dockyard across the water.
